Our first stop is Casablanca’s iconic Hassan II Mosque, the second-largest mosque in Africa, beautifully situated on a headland overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. After exploring its intricate architecture and oceanfront setting, we continue to Rabat, Morocco’s capital and one of its four imperial cities. Here, we visit the Hassan Tower, the mausoleum of Mohammed V, and the Kasbah of the Udayas, a historic fortress with an Andalusian-style village and stunning views over the Bou Regreg River.
In the afternoon, we drive north to Chefchaouen, the famous “Blue City” nestled in the Rif Mountains. Arriving by late afternoon or evening, you’ll check into a charming riad in the medina. If time allows, take a leisurely stroll through the winding blue alleyways, explore local art galleries, or admire the town’s beautifully painted buildings. Overnight stay in Chefchaouen.
After breakfast at your riad in Chefchaouen, we begin our journey toward Fes, with stops at two historically significant destinations.
Our first stop is Volubilis, a remarkably preserved Roman settlement from the 3rd century. Here, you’ll walk among ancient ruins, grand arches, intricate mosaics, and remnants of Roman baths, offering a fascinating glimpse into Morocco’s past.
Next, we visit Meknès, one of Morocco’s four imperial cities. A short stroll around the city’s fortress walls gives you a sense of its majestic history. We’ll also stop at lush gardens and historical landmarks, reflecting the grandeur of Sultan Moulay Ismail’s rule (1672-1727). After lunch in Meknès, we continue to Fes, where you’ll check into a traditional riad in the heart of the city.
