We stop at a local cooperative where you can learn about the traditional methods of extracting rose oil and producing beauty products. This is the perfect place to purchase authentic souvenirs, from beautifully scented rose soaps to luxurious rose-infused cosmetics. The cooperative also provides an opportunity to support the local community, as most products are handcrafted by Berber women.
Continuing our journey, we head towards Ouarzazate, often referred to as the “Hollywood of Morocco.” This vibrant city is famous for its film studios and has served as the backdrop for numerous international movies and TV shows, including Gladiator, The Mummy, and Game of Thrones. We make a brief stop for a photo opportunity at the iconic Kasbah Taourirt, a magnificent mud-brick fortress that stands as a symbol of Morocco’s architectural heritage.
Our next destination is the legendary Ksar Ait Benhaddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Morocco’s most remarkable historical landmarks. This ancient fortified village, made entirely of clay and straw, dates back to the 17th century and is a fine example of traditional Moroccan earthen architecture. The ksar’s impressive mud-brick walls, narrow alleyways, and towering kasbahs make it a fascinating place to explore.
As we walk through the labyrinthine passages of Ait Benhaddou, you’ll feel as though you’ve stepped back in time. This well-preserved ksar has been featured in countless films and TV series, including The Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia, and Game of Thrones, where it served as the fictional city of Yunkai. Climb to the top of the hill for panoramic views of the surrounding valley and the lush palm groves below. It’s the perfect spot for capturing stunning photographs of this iconic Moroccan landmark.
After a memorable visit to Ait Benhaddou, we continue our journey back to Marrakech, crossing the majestic High Atlas Mountains. The drive takes us along the scenic Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, the highest mountain pass in North Africa, standing at an elevation of 2260 meters above sea level. As we ascend through the winding roads, we make a stop at the Tizi-n-Tichka viewpoint, where you can soak in the breathtaking panorama of the Atlas Mountains and the verdant valleys below. The dramatic landscape, dotted with Berber villages and terraced fields, offers incredible photo opportunities.
We then descend towards the plains of Marrakech, enjoying the scenic beauty of the Atlas Mountains along the way. As we approach the vibrant city, the bustling medina and the iconic silhouette of the Koutoubia Mosque come into view, signaling the end of our incredible Moroccan journey.
Depending on your departure time, we will either drop you off at your hotel or transfer you directly to Marrakech Menara Airport for your flight home. If you have extra time, consider a last stroll through the lively Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, where snake charmers, storytellers, and food stalls create a magical ambiance unique to Marrakech.
